Mini Single-Paddle CW Morse Hand Key — Aluminum Alloy Base (Black S)
Review
Adjustable spring and travel: The key’s tension has been tuned from user feedback and can be adjusted without extra tools. Two separate adjustments let you set the spring stiffness and the contact travel independently so you can tailor the feel and rebound to your prefered touch.
Magnetic return and stable base: The paddle uses an up-and-down dual magnetic circuit for a positive magnetic return. The base is fitted with silicone pads to increase friction, stop slipping, and protect table or radio surfaces from scratches.
Materials and durability: The main body and base are machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished with an anodized, oxidized surface for corrosion resistance. All mounting screws are 304 stainless steel to resist rust; the moving parts use NMB bearings imported from Japan for smooth, long-lasting operation.
What’s included: The key ships packed in a small clear plastic box and typically includes a cloth-wrapped 1/8-inch (3.5 mm) audio cable for plugging into a keyer or radio. It’s designed to be compact and lightweight so it fits easily into a portable radio kit or field pack.
Use cases: Ideal for radio hobbyists, beginners learning CW, and portable activations like POTA, SOTA, or LOTA. Its small footprint and solid mass make it suitable for both bench use in the shack and for carrying to outdoor ops.
Pros
- Adjustable spring and travel for a custom feel
- Durable anodized 6061-T6 aluminum construction
- Stable, non-slip base for bench and portable use
Cons
- Small size may be cramped for large hands
- No dedicated protective hard case included
- Requires basic understanding to fine-tune adjustments
VerdictA well-made, pocketable CW hand key that balances solid construction with easy adjustability. The magnetic return and tunable spring deliver crisp, repeatable action; silicone feet keep it planted on a workbench or in the field. Built from anodized 6061-T6 aluminum with NMB bearings and stainless screws, it’s durable enough for regular use and small enough for POTA/SOTA or travel. A great option f

Solid construction for beginners
I’m new to CW and tend to press hard. The build looks like it will take field use fine. I may soften the spring later; a protective case would be handy — a 3D printed cover would be perfect.

Adorable and well finished
This is a cute, compact key with an attractive finish. Build quality exceeded my expectations and now I’m tempted to add a different color to the collection.

Very good key
Nice little key. Small but heavy enough that it doesn’t move. Works well for CW.

Highly recommended, does the job
Love it — adjustable, hefty enough, and the rubber feet stop it sliding. Would buy another. Fun name too if you like wordplay.

Well-engineered, feels like quality
The key feels entirely metal and solidly machined. It has crisp action and looks like it could be disassembled for cleaning with hex wrenches. Two thumbscrews let you set spring tension and travel, each with a locking nut, and it arrived with a small plastic box and cloth-wrapped 1/8-inch cable.

Nice straight key for the shack or field
I wanted a straight key option in addition to my paddles. I chose the blue model — it’s sturdy and stays put without being bolted down. I tuned the gap small and used it on a POTA contact; it required me to slow my speed a bit but felt great overall.

A very well-constructed hand key that stays put and is easy to tune. All metal and excellent for portable activations or bench use. Strong recommendation.

Perfect for travel and getting back into CW
I hadn’t touched CW since 1980 and wanted to refresh my skills without splurging. This little key is adjustable, solid, and stays put on a table. It’s simple to use and works very reliably — great for beginners and seasoned CW ops.
