Nelko P21 Bluetooth Handheld Label Maker with Tape
Review
2026 updated design: The Nelko P21 reduces bulk and weight compared with conventional label makers, offering a compact, pocketable format for printing on the go. It connects wirelessly via Bluetooth and is optimized for Nelko thermal label rolls. Important for iOS users: update the Nelko app to the latest release for optimal performance.
Print technology and power: The P21 uses BPA-free direct thermal printing at 203 DPI, producing clear black text without ink or toner. The unit houses a high-speed processor for crisp output and includes a built-in rechargeable battery for extended sessions. Printing is monochrome; decorative color-effect tapes are available to add visual variety. Note: a wall charging adapter is not supplied.
Setup and compatibility: Pair the P21 to iOS or Android devices through the Nelko mobile app. Typical setup: install the label roll, open the app, pair the device, select a template and print. The app supplies thousands of icons, borders, materials and hundreds of templates across many languages. The P21 is not designed for use with desktop computers. Some Android phones may have compatibility issues—check device compatibility notes in the app.
Creative features and label sizes: The companion app supports text, QR codes, barcodes, images, time/date stamps and a wide range of decorative borders and materials. Supported roll widths include common sizes such as 14 × 40 mm, 14 × 50 mm and 14 × 75 mm among others. Do not remove or damage the green backing sticker on the label strip, as this can impair print quality. Continuous roll tapes are not supported.
Where to use it: This label maker is suited for home organization—marking clothing, pantry items, cosmetics and parcels—as well as office tasks like folder tags, price labels and reminders. In schools it helps with name tags, desk supplies and classroom bins. It also works well for crafting personalized back-to-school items.
Classroom-ready features: The P21’s portability makes it a useful tool for teachers and busy classrooms. Labels are water-resistant when using appropriate tapes, and the device is compact enough to print wherever needed so bins, books and student belongings remain organized and easy to identify.

Excellent value and lots of customization
I replaced my older labeler with the Nelko P21 and love it. The app makes custom fonts, icons, and templates simple. Labels are cheap and printing is straightforward. A PC version exists but is limited. I keep a small case with the printer and cables for portability.

Solid printer, but battery could improve
Nice print quality and easy setup. The app is full-featured and the unit is compact. My only issue: the battery drained noticeably after a few days unused. Otherwise it’s a dependable labeling tool.

Handy for quick organization
Setup was fast and pairing via Bluetooth was seamless. The app provides decent customization and prints clear labels. I did notice small or dense barcodes can blur, but printing them larger fixes it. Great for home projects.

Surprisingly robust and affordable
I didn’t expect much but it performed perfectly for labeling PVC poles, drone cases, and USB drives. Tape adheres well to most surfaces; textured plastics can be trickier but still hold. Prints are dry and smudge-free.
