Sea to Summit Ultra‑SIL Lightweight Waterproof Dry Bag Set (3L, 5L, 8L)
Review
This bundle contains three ultra-light dry sacks — 3 liters, 5 liters and 8 liters — sized to help organize gear and keep contents dry on hikes, bike tours, or while traveling.
They are constructed from bluesign‑approved 30D Ultra‑SIL Cordura ripstop nylon that has a slick finish to make stuffing and removing items easier. The fabric carries a 2,000 mm waterhead rating and is translucent so you can quickly see what’s inside.
Seams are reinforced: double-stitched and tape‑sealed, with extra stitching at stress points. A secure Hypalon roll‑top closure protects contents, and the oval base helps prevent the sacks from rolling around in your pack. A patent‑pending field repair buckle can be swapped out in seconds if needed.
Sizes and weights are: 3 L — 6.7 x 5.5 x 8.1 in, 0.07 lb; 5 L — 6.7 x 5.9 x 12.1 in, 0.07 lb; 8 L — 7.5 x 6.8 x 14.5 in, 0.09 lb. Use them to separate wet or dirty clothes, protect electronics from splashes, or keep kit organized and compact while on the move.
Pros
- Very light for backpacking and bikepacking
- Taped seams and Hypalon roll-top for strong water resistance
- Translucent fabric and oval base aid organization
Cons
- Not intended for prolonged full submersion with electronics
- No air‑release valve to aid aggressive compression
- Clips can be a bit stiff at first
VerdictA compact, featherweight set of dry bags that balances durability and packability. They aren’t rated for full submersion with electronics, but they reliably protect clothes, electronics in wet pockets, and damp gear inside packs or panniers. The materials and seam construction are high quality for the weight, and the replaceable buckle is a thoughtful touch. Ideal for hikers and cycle tourists who

Featherweight and effective
Super light and they do a solid job keeping things dry. Not something to dunk a phone into a lake, but they’ll keep a phone safe in a wet pocket. I use them for damp clothes and they barely add weight—great for taking anywhere.

Could be the difference between dry and disaster
When staying dry means staying warm and safe, these work. I use them in remote backcountry trips to protect clothing; compressing air saves space and keeps items dry a day or two from help.

Perfect for bikepacking and muddy gear
Light, waterproof, and rugged enough for years of bikepacking. I use them for dirty or wet clothes so the rest of my kit stays fresh. Not for constant abrasion against thorns or rocks, but excellent inside packs and panniers. Bought extras for my son when his panniers leaked. I wish they had a valve to push air out for easier compression, but closing them is still straightforward.

Solid construction
Very lightweight and waterproof. The buckles are slightly stiff to open, but manageable.
