Heavy-Duty Oxidation Remover for Marine & RV Gelcoat — 16 oz
Review
What you get: a 16 ounce bottle of heavy-duty oxidation remover formulated specifically for gelcoat and fiberglass finishes found on boats, RVs, jet-skis, and similar recreational vehicles.
Formula and materials: the product relies on diminishing abrasives to mechanically remove the degraded outer layer while feeder/polishing oils replenish gloss and color. As you work the compound in, the abrasives break down and become finer so the finish is polished rather than simply abraded away.
What it treats: designed to tackle heavy oxidation, chalking, discoloration, water spots, surface stains, and light scratches commonly seen on older or sun-exposed gelcoat and fiberglass surfaces.
How to use: suitable for application by hand for spot work or small areas, and compatible with dual-action polishers for broader or faster correction. For a deeper, more aggressive cut on very weathered finishes, a high-speed rotary buffer can be used with caution. After correcting the surface, protect the restored shine with an all-surface sealant or marine-grade protectant to extend results.
Surface safety: while the abrasive system is robust, it is formulated to dissipate as you polish so the underlying gelcoat is preserved when used according to instructions. Test a small, inconspicuous area first to confirm compatibility with older finishes.
Performance notes: intended for enthusiasts and professionals alike who need to recover faded color and gloss. It’s especially useful when ordinary clearcoat or automotive compounds are insufficient for thicker, more weathered fiberglass finishes.
Pros
- Strong cutting action removes heavy oxidation
- Restores color, gloss, and water-spot resistance
- Works by hand or with machine polishers
Cons
- Requires significant effort on large, neglected surfaces
- Needs thorough mixing and occasional re-agitation
- Coverage can be limited when applied by hand
VerdictAn effective restoration compound for aged gelcoat and fiberglass that balances strong cutting action with surface-safe polishing oils. It removes heavy oxidation, water spotting, and light scratches and brings back color depth and shine. Best results come from machine polishing, though hand application works for small areas. Requires elbow grease but delivers noticeable, long-lasting improvement

Quick cleaner for my boat
Cleans up my boat nicely and brings back a fresher look.

Worked well on an older boat hull
Used a dual-action polisher on one side and a foam pad by hand on the other. Machine side was faster but both cleaned up nicely. Water spots lifted and the hull lost its chalky look.

Pleasantly surprised
Cleans up better than I expected. Very happy with how it restores the surface.

Cuts haze and brings back shine
Tried several cleaners; this was the only one that removed the haze on my RV. It takes effort, but the fiberglass finish regained a good shine. Be sure to wax afterward.

Trusted brand performance
Haven’t tried this one yet but have had good results with similar compounds from this maker. Will repurchase when needed for polishing my boat.

Tiresome but effective
Not magic—requires a lot of buffing. Still, it does a solid job removing oxidation when you put in the work.

Good product — remember to shake
Works well but you must shake thoroughly or it looks like a clear liquid. Mix before applying.

Possible storage issue
The product appeared discolored like it might have been stored too long or exposed. Check condition before use.

Saved my Jeep hardtop — looks nearly new
I was nervous it might eat into the gelcoat, but it removed the oxidized layer without harming the underlying finish. My six-year-old hardtop looks almost brand new now. No repaint needed.

Great results but tricky to prepare
We bought the gallon and the product separated badly; it took a long time of shaking and stirring to blend. Once mixed, it restored the faded color well, but the prep was messy.

Use a buffer for best, even results
Hand rubbing gave patchy results. Switched to a buffing pad on a grinder and coverage and consistency improved a lot. Worth using a machine for larger areas.

Restored my trailer but it took hard work
I detail cars professionally and expected the same effort for my used trailer. Regular car compounds couldn't cut the oxidation on fiberglass. This heavy-duty remover brought a dull off-white back to bright, glossy white. It was tiring, but the improvement was worth it.
