8000 lb Bolt-On Side-Mount Trailer Jack — 28.6" Travel, Drop Leg
Review
Built for heavy-duty use, this side-mounted trailer jack is rated to lift up to 8,000 pounds. The unit is designed for bolt-on or weld mounting to the trailer tongue and provides dependable support for utility trailers, boats, yachts and other tow rigs.
The jack features a long, textured side handle rather than the standard flared type. That extended grip improves leverage and control, making it easier to raise and lower the trailer and to fine-tune the lift position. The unit offers five distinct adjustment levels to accommodate different trailer heights and loading situations.
Vertical travel measures approximately 28.6 inches, with an effective lifting range from about 4.5 to 33.4 inches, so it works for both low-profile and taller trailer tongues. The drop-leg design lets you set a stable base quickly and retract the leg when towing.
Construction uses heavy-duty steel tubing with a galvanizing finish to reduce rust and corrosion from prolonged outdoor exposure. The jack includes an oversized base plate to spread load and improve footing on softer ground, giving a secure and steady stance during use.
What is included: the jack assembly with integrated oversized base plate. It is configured for side mounting; bolts or welding can be used to secure it to the trailer tongue (mounting hardware may be required depending on installation). For longevity, periodic lubrication of gear areas is recommended.
Pros
- 8,000 lb rated lifting capacity
- Galvanized heavy-steel construction
- Five adjustment positions and long travel
Cons
- May require mounting hardware for bolt-on installs
- Heavier than lighter, low-capacity jacks
- Made for side-mount applications only
VerdictThis is a robust bolt-on trailer jack built to handle demanding towing situations. With an 8,000 lb rated capacity and nearly 28.6 inches of vertical travel, it adjusts through five positions to fit a variety of trailer heights. The longer textured side handle makes lifting and lowering easier than typical flared handles. Galvanized heavy‑steel tubing, an oversized base plate and a sturdy drop-leg

Held up after field repair
My original tongue jack tore off a FEMA trailer. I mounted this to a crossmember with a 2x12 bushing, double‑nutted the hardware, and it carries the load fine. I added grease to the ring gear.
