Heavy-Duty Floating Shelf Brackets for 2x4 Studs — 4 Pack, Black
Review
Designed to fit narrow 2×4 wood studs, these hidden shelf brackets have a compact backplate measuring about 1.57 × 1.38 inches so the three closely spaced screw holes line up with the actual stud dimensions (1.5 × 3.5 in.). Boards are not included.
Each bracket is manufactured from roughly 0.2 inch thick iron, stamped and bent as a single piece rather than welded, to improve toughness and reduce breakage. A pair of these heavy-duty supports is rated to hold up to 160 pounds. The surface is finished with a thick black matte coating that increases friction beneath the shelf and helps resist moisture and corrosion.
To keep shelves level, the brackets are produced with a standardized 90° bend and undergo an inspection process to minimize variance so mounted boards sit flat and don’t tip. A small spirit level is supplied to aid alignment during installation.
The package includes a variety of screws, wall anchors and spare fasteners to accommodate wooden studs, drywall or masonry mounting (detailed instructions explain which fasteners to use). The shorter screws can secure the underside of a board while longer screws are provided for anchoring into studs.
These mounts are compatible with wood-framed walls, plaster/drywall and concrete surfaces when the appropriate anchors and screws are used. The instructions outline how to select and install the correct hardware for each wall type.
Available in multiple projections — 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 inches — choose the size that suits your shelf depth or mix lengths for different uses. They’re intended for kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry or storage areas and can hold plant pots, frames, books, baskets and other decorative or utility items.
Pros
- Robust stamped iron construction
- Includes anchors, screws and a small level
- Fits narrow 2×4 studs; multiple length choices
Cons
- Shelf boards must be supplied separately
- May need longer screws for deep studs
- Occasional bracket slight bend variance
VerdictSolid, low-profile floating shelf hardware that fits 2×4 studs and comes with a full mounting kit. Thick stamped iron and a textured coating give durability and grip; pairs claim a 160 lb capacity. Installation is straightforward with included screws, anchors and a tiny level. Best suited when you provide your own boards and choose the bracket length to match load and shelf depth.

Thick, dependable brackets
Very chunky brackets with a wide selection of hardware. I ended up using longer screws to reach into 2x4 studs.

Strong and almost hidden
Used under a heavy walnut shelf loaded with bottles — the supports are barely noticeable and do the job well.

Really pleased
Great value and durable. Screw access is a bit tight near the long arm, but manageable. End result looks fantastic.

Solid for heavy shelving
Installed a year ago in the kitchen on routed slots in 2x10s. Little to no flex. One bracket was slightly off 90°, but it made only a minor difference.

Very solid and discreet
Extremely sturdy and simple to install for my outdoor catio. They’re almost invisible once mounted. Hardware was adequate, though a few extra screws would’ve been helpful. Expect longevity despite exposure.

Excellent look and build
Arrived quickly. Heavy and attractive finish. Needed longer screws to clear the drywall and reach our 2x6 studs. The tiny level is very handy.
