Hatch Restore 3 Sleep Trainer — Sunrise Alarm & Sound Machine (Cocoa)
Review
Purpose-built to help you establish calmer evenings and more natural mornings, the Hatch Restore 3 pairs gradual light changes with guided audio to create a full bedtime routine. The unit sits on your nightstand and runs custom programs that can include a warm wind-down cue, a meditation or ambient track, followed by steady white noise that helps mask disturbances through the night.
The package includes the Restore 3 bedside device and the required power cable. The enclosure is a smooth, matte plastic housing with an integrated speaker and a diffused front light, designed to blend into bedroom decor. The device is compact — intended for bedside use without taking much surface area — and its dimmable clock display keeps the room dark when desired.
Onboard features include a sunrise-style alarm that brightens the room gradually, a dimmable clock face, and a library of more than 80 sleep-focused sounds spanning white noise, nature, and soothing music. Most functions are configured through the companion app, where you create multi-step routines that sequence lights and audio for winding down and waking up.
New subscribers are offered a limited trial of the premium content and features available through the service; after the trial, continued access to the expanded content requires a subscription. The Restore 3 functions as a standalone light and speaker for basic use, but the app unlocks deeper customization and routine scheduling.
Intended use: position it on a bedside surface, set a daily wind-down time and an alarm window, choose your preferred sounds and light colors, and let the device guide your evening and morning. The Restore 3 is aimed at people seeking a screen-free cue to prepare for sleep, a reliable night-time sound source, and a gentler wake-up than traditional alarms.
Pros
- Gentle sunrise alarm and extensive sound library
- Customizable multi-step bedtime routines
- Sleek, nightstand-friendly design with dimmable clock
Cons
- Depends on the companion app for full customization
- Premium content requires a subscription after the trial
- Higher-end option compared with basic alarm clocks
VerdictA thoughtfully designed sleep device that combines a soft sunrise alarm, dimmable clock and a wide library of calming audio to support nightly wind-downs and gentler mornings. It's especially useful if you want to replace jarring phone alarms, create consistent bedtime cues and mask disruptive background noise. The hardware and sound quality are strong, but many features rely on the companion app

Too costly and came with UK plug
I found the same unit cheaper elsewhere and discovered this package included a UK-style plug, so you may need an adapter depending on where you live.

Built better bedtime habits
I bought this for a softer wake and ended up getting a calmer night routine. The dimming light and scheduled wind-down make it easier to set the phone aside, and the sunrise alarm feels much more natural than my old phone alarm. Sound quality is solid and it’s become part of my daily routine. Not cheap, but a real help if you want healthier sleep habits.

Truly changed my mornings
After trying many wake devices, this is the first that actually improved my mornings. The gradual sunrise reduces grogginess and I rarely smash snooze. Plenty of sound options and easy routine setup in the app. Sleek look, fast setup, and it’s been reliable every day. Surprised by how much it helped.

From gimmick to essential
I assumed my phone could do the job, but blackout curtains made mornings impossible and I’m a heavy sleeper. This clock provides light cues I need to wake without endless snoozing. After trying it, I no longer think of it as a gimmick.

Turned me into a morning person
Nearly a year in and my sleep routine and mornings are transformed. I use a red wind-down for 30 minutes and wake to a cool blue. The sunrise alarm makes waking less stressful and the pre-bed light helps curb doomscrolling. Sound quality is better than expected.

Two AuDHD adults, two units — no regrets
We'd cycled through smart speakers and cheap sound machines that either dropped audio or needed manual starting. For us, sound at night is essential. These work reliably through the night, maintain consistent audio, and have much better sound control than the old budget machines. Worth having two.

Absolutely perfect
A very pleasant alarm with advanced light and sound options. Beautiful design and a user-friendly app. Buttons are intuitive and it’s straightforward to use.

Feels like a sleep clinic device
Skeptical at first, but the wind-down routine feels spa-like and actually makes bedtimes more inviting. I still struggle to sleep earlier due to habits, but the white noise gets me to sleep faster than my old mechanical fan or air purifier. Biggest gains are in sleep and wake quality.

Read if you’re unsure — the routines matter
The app’s bedtime routine is the standout. You can chain a warm wind-down cue, an optional meditation, then white noise—each with its own sound, volume and light setting. It remembers volumes for each step, so your wind-down can be quiet while the night noise runs louder. The sunrise alarm is programmable too; the routines really make the product.

Too complicated for me
I boxed it back up quickly. The setup felt overly complex and I didn’t want to deal with the subscription to get full functionality.

Winter mornings made easier
After a few months it’s made a big difference, especially during dark Canadian winters. There’s a learning curve exploring the lights and sounds, but the sunrise feature makes cold, dark mornings far more bearable. Even our dog settles when the wind-down cues come on.

Great hardware, weak app
The hardware itself is solid, but the companion app is clunky and limits the experience. The product has potential, but the software needs a major overhaul. I’m disappointed enough to consider returning it.
