Digital-to-Analog Audio Converter — Optical/Coaxial to RCA & 3.5mm DAC
Review
This digital-to-analog converter accepts a Toslink optical or a coaxial S/PDIF input and converts PCM/LPCM digital audio into stereo analog outputs: two RCA jacks (left/right) plus a 3.5mm headphone-style socket. It is a one-way converter only and cannot convert analog back to digital.
The electronics support sampling rates of 32, 44.1, 48, 96 and up to 192 kHz and handle a 24-bit S/PDIF bit stream per channel for clean signal reproduction. The unit ships with an optical (Toslink) cable and a 5V/1A power adapter to supply the device; coaxial and RCA interconnects are not supplied. The converter is housed in a compact plastic enclosure designed for shelf or media-cabinet use.
Setup is plug-and-play with no driver installation required. Typical applications include connecting modern TVs, game consoles (PS3/PS4/Xbox), Blu-ray or HD DVD players, home cinema sources and AV amplifiers to older analog speakers, headphone amps or sound systems. Note: the converter only handles PCM/LPCM over S/PDIF — it does not decode AC3, Dolby, DTS or other non‑PCM compressed formats. Ensure your source device is set to output PCM/LPCM audio before use.
Pros
- Supports PCM up to 192 kHz/24-bit
- Includes optical cable and 5V/1A power adapter
- Simple plug-and-play setup, no drivers required
Cons
- Cannot decode Dolby/DTS/AC3 or other non-PCM formats
- Coaxial and RCA cables are not included
- Some TV settings can produce noise or introduce audio delay
VerdictA budget-friendly solution for sending digital TV, console, or player audio to analog speakers or headphones. Delivers up to 192 kHz/24-bit PCM conversion and arrives ready to use with an optical lead and 5V/1A adapter. It won’t decode Dolby, DTS, or other compressed non‑PCM formats and some TVs require specific audio output settings to avoid noise or delay. Great for emergency or secondary setups

Very nice
Simple device, worked with my setup without fuss.

Poor cable fit and quality issues
The optical lead wouldn’t seat securely in my devices and kept falling out. I couldn’t fully test everything before my return window closed due to personal issues, but overall build and fit felt low quality. Disappointed with the reliability.

Solved my hookup problem
Connected my older stereo to a new LG television with this unit — solid build and simple to wire. I had to change the TV audio to output both speakers and optical; using optical-only caused loud static. Works fine now.

Does the job
Used it to tie an older TV into an HDMI splitter/switch setup with a DVD player and streaming stick. No problems — it worked as expected.

Product info was misleading
Listing promised a converter, fiber cable, 5V/1A adapter and manual, but I only got the converter and a micro-USB cable. The item also didn’t work when hooked to my TV and speaker, so I returned it.

Does what it should, watch the caps
Hooked it up so my Samsung TV could send audio to my Logitech speakers when the TV is used as a monitor. Works well — but the optical ends have protective caps that must be removed. Also remember to set the TV’s audio to PCM.

Small, effective, good value
Used it to feed a large portable speaker from a TV in our MakerSpace. Initially had buzzing until I adjusted the TV’s audio output setting, then it became crystal clear even at long distances. Wish it included a 3.5mm lead, but performance is good and I’d buy another for other locations.

Solid little DAC
Performs well for basic needs and comes with a power supply.

Saved my old headboard speaker
I needed to keep an analog speaker connected after upgrading the TV. The converter ran off a TV USB port and fed the headphone jack on the speaker. I had to enable both TV speakers and optical output or I got a horrible screech, but otherwise it worked well.

Functional but not high fidelity
It connected my LG OLED’s optical out to an Onkyo receiver, but there was noticeable audio delay and some bass distortion. Fine for emergency or backup use, but not suitable for critical listening.

Good performance but pricey
Not perfect, but it works reliably. I just think it’s a bit more expensive than it should be.
