10-Frame Deep Langstroth Cedar Beehive Kit with Beeswax Foundations
Review
Cold-climate Nordic cedar construction: The 10-frame deep hive body and frames are milled from Nordic cedar chosen for its natural rot resistance and dimensional stability in cool environments. Each wooden part receives a 30-minute beeswax dipping process to add a water-repellent, preservative barrier — the manufacturer rates the treatment as extending service life up to 15 years.
Complete kit contents: This package ships as a single-layer deep brood setup and includes one deep brood box, ten pine frames fitted with ten 100% beeswax-coated foundation sheets, both metal and inner covers, a solid bottom board, the screws and wooden pegs needed for assembly, a queen excluder, and an entrance reducer.
Precision dovetail joinery: The hive body and frames use dovetail joints for snug assembly and improved durability. Connectors and fastenings were refined with input from more than 1,000 professional beekeepers to reduce the chance of the hive tipping or loosening in high winds.
Design that supports natural colony behavior: The internal layout mirrors wild comb structure to encourage natural comb building, brood rearing, and honey storage. That familiar geometry helps colonies settle in quicker and can contribute to improved honey yields as bees adapt and work the provided foundations.
Standard Langstroth dimensions and usability: The deep box follows standard Langstroth sizing (19-7/8" × 16-3/8" × 9-7/8") so it fits standard accessories and replacement parts. Assembly is straightforward and inspections are simple, making this kit suitable for backyard beginners and commercial operators alike.
Pros
- Durable Nordic cedar with long service life
- Comes with all frames, covers, hardware, and excluder
- Standard Langstroth size for easy compatibility
Cons
- Some components may arrive with transit damage without extra packaging
- Foundation color can make egg spotting harder
- Bottom board is non-structural and may require reinforcement
VerdictSolidly built starter or expansion hive: durable Nordic cedar construction, dovetail joinery for tight fit and wind resistance, and 100% beeswax-coated foundation sheets ready for installation. The kit supplies everything for a single deep brood box and should serve both new and experienced keepers well; the factory wax dip and standard dimensions make it easy to integrate with existing Langstroth

Great product, packing could be better
Excellent product and good value. One suggestion: include foam edge protection during shipping, as boxes arrived broken and a few parts were damaged.

Well waxed but watch foundation color
This is a real post-assembly review. One bottom board had a side crack I stapled; not structural. The foundation is yellow, which makes spotting eggs harder if you use it as a brood box. Frames and box were well wax-coated. I used glue and an air stapler to speed up assembly.

Easy to put together and fits my gear
Assembly looks intimidating but is simple and needs little more than a hammer. It's a standard ten-frame deep and accepts my own wax foundation frames. I also fit my screened bottom board and the included queen excluder is useful. Well built and sturdy for the price.

Beautiful hive, family project
Big, attractive hive that arrived as a puzzle. My 10-year-old helped assemble it and we’re excited to place it in the garden. It’s heavy-duty and well made — a lovely home for a queen.

Frames preassembled and good quality
Good value. Frames arrive assembled and ready for the deep box. Wax coating is lighter than hand-dipped, which is typical. I'll add a few frames this week to see if bees draw them. Wood quality is above average—I ordered four more packs.

Overall good, minor fit issues
Overall it's good. The fit is tight and I couldn't close it with the smoker inside. I wish glove sizing options were available. Otherwise the kit arrived as described.

Frames packaged and wax-dipped — handy
These 10 frames came well packaged and already assembled, which is a great bonus. They were dipped in beeswax, making them easier to add next spring when colonies are ready to build.
