VZ Grips J-Frame Tactical Diamond G10 Panels — Black Gray (2-Pack)
Review
WHAT YOU GET: Two G10 grip panels sized for Smith & Wesson J-frame revolvers plus a stainless Torx-15 (T-15) screw for installation.
MATERIAL & FINISH: Fabricated from high-density G10 composite for long life and consistent texture. The tactical diamond pattern is milled sharp in the G10, producing a very grippy surface. Color shown is black/gray; other finishes are available from the maker.
DESIGN & FIT: The Tactical Diamonds retain a slim, low-profile shape tailored to J-frame geometry so they do not extend past the bottom of the frame. That keeps printing to a minimum for IWB or pocket carry while improving purchase and control. These panels are precision-machined to tight tolerances for a near-seamless fit on compatible frames.
US MANUFACTURE & USE: Produced domestically with American materials and machines. Recommended for concealed carry, range work, and competition where a secure, compact grip is desired. Note: G10 grips are rigid and aggressive by design, so they do not provide recoil absorption.
Pros
- Exceptional traction from precision-cut G10 tactical diamonds
- Slim, low-profile shape suited for concealed carry
- Durable, USA-made materials and tight machining tolerances
Cons
- Very grippy — can feel sharp to some users
- No recoil-dampening properties
- Snug, close-tolerance fit can make removal difficult
VerdictThese G10 panels give J-frame pistols a significant traction upgrade without adding bulk. The fine tactical diamond cut in G10 produces an exceptionally grippy surface that improves control for carry, practice, and competition. They sit flush and maintain a small footprint for concealment, but offer no recoil cushioning and can fit tightly once installed. Overall, a durable, precision-machined opt

Great look and feel, expect sharper recoil
They look and feel excellent — slick enough to not catch clothing yet textured for a sure hold. On lightweight .357 scandium J-frames the recoil is more noticeable since there's no cushioning.

Perfect upgrade for my 642-1
Picked these for my S&W 642-1 and couldn't be happier. The look, texture and fit are spot on — a big step up from the stock rubber grips. Very comfortable and molds to the hand. Great purchase.

Tight fit, excellent control
Initial installation was snug but overall they settled into a great fit and provide firm purchase. Perfect for CCW while keeping a low profile.

Ideal for concealed carry
For me these are just right. Extended strings of fire can bother my hand, but otherwise they’re perfect. Fit on my J-frame was exact and they don’t interfere with clothing.

Finally found the right CCW grips
Tried many options and these nailed the balance: not slippery, not abrasive, and compact for pocket or IWB carry. Fit my S&W 340 M&P perfectly; ordering another for my 340 PD.

Pricey and required trimming
Paid a premium and had to Dremel around a Techna clip to clear a belt attachment. They look great and are very grippy, but I expected a closer out-of-the-box fit for the cost.

Fantastic texture and finish, hard to remove
They look terrific on my S&W 642. The tactical diamonds are aggressive without shredding your hands and give a solid grip. Machined very tight — excellent fit but a pain if you need to take them off.

Best choice for J-frame control
Superb on my 649 with XS Big Dot. Aggressive texture with a minimal footprint keeps the revolver concealable while improving controllability. Expensive, but worth it.
