On-Stage MS7700B Tripod Microphone Stand
Review
Built of rugged steel, this tripod mic stand is designed to withstand regular use while remaining light enough for transport. The package includes the collapsible tripod base and the adjustable upper shaft with a threaded metal stud (5/8"-27) that secures mic clips, booms, shock mounts, and other mic accessories using the included tightening washer.
Height adjusts smoothly with an ergonomic clutch, covering a range from about 32" up to roughly 61.5" to position microphones for singers, acoustic instruments, amps, and small live setups. The tripod legs fold flat for compact storage and fit easily into gig bags and cases; the collapsed stand passes through its own base for a smaller packed footprint.
Nonslip rubber feet on each leg help prevent sliding on stage floors and uneven surfaces, improving stability during performances. The stand is finished in a durable black coating that resists chipping and conceals wear, keeping the appearance unobtrusive in studio and stage environments. While lightweight and portable, it performs best with mics mounted directly on top; very long booms or heavy loads may require added ballast or a heavier base for maximum security.
Pros
- Sturdy steel construction
- Compact folding for travel
- Standard 5/8"-27 threading fits common accessories
Cons
- Lightweight—limited ballast with long booms
- Plastic thumb screws on some models can wear
- Not as durable as heavier pro-grade stands
VerdictThe MS7700B is a practical, portable tripod mic stand that balances stability and convenience. Steel construction and rubber feet give dependable support for vocal and instrument miking, while the quick-fold legs and lightweight frame make it easy to carry and store. The height-adjustable upper tube (32"–61.5") and standard 5/8"-27 threaded end accept most clips and booms, though adding an extende

Lightweight for tough load-ins
Picked it up to simplify a tricky load-in. It’s both light to carry and impressively stable onstage.

More stable than round-base stands
I prefer this tripod pole over the tippier round-base models. I added a 13" gooseneck for reach and, when I mount an iPad, I loop a 5 lb weight at the base for extra steadiness.

Surprisingly robust
I didn’t expect it to be this solid. I use it for a tablet holder while I sing and play guitar and it holds up very well.

Arrived used and defective
The item sent was clearly used and does not work. The base collapses even with no weight, it arrived scratched, and the bag was torn and knotted. I returned it.

Ideal for use with Moog Etherwave and Etherwave Plus theremins—stable and at the right height.

Solid, well made
Good build quality and durability. Recommend for those who want a reliable stand without spending on high-end gear.

Recurring failure at the base screw
The leg-holding thumb screw strips on every one I’ve owned and the base then needs duct tape to stay open. They fold well and fit my gig bag, but this part keeps failing after some use. I’ve bought a few replacements; would pay more for a heavy-duty set-screw design.

Not ideal for multiple users
Good material, but it’s awkward to re-adjust repeatedly. Best suited to a single user who sets it once and leaves it.

Perfect for beginner home studios
Better than I expected for starting a home studio. I use it with a Rode NT1‑A and it’s very sturdy. Delivery was on time and the courier was courteous.

Excellent—highly recommended
Very durable and won’t break easily. Took a bit of force to adjust at first, but it works great with a shock mount and my AT2020.

Good for a tight budget
It wobbles a little but stands fine on its own. A great choice if you’re watching costs and need a basic stand.

Arrived in perfect condition
This brand has worked best for me—sturdy, well-constructed and lightweight. This stand performs flawlessly.

Compact and practical
Does the job when you need a small footprint. Legs collapse neatly and the stand stores very compactly. Tension knobs have held up so far. Keep in mind it’s lighter than pro models, so a boom extending beyond the base diameter can make it prone to tipping; a mic mounted straight on top is fine. Overall construction reflects its budget positioning compared with pricier stands.
