Lodge XL Reversible Cast Iron Grill/Griddle Pan — Double‑Burner 16.75×11.5
Review
What’s included: a single reversible cast iron pan sized to cover two standard burners (overall footprint 16.75 by 11.5 inches). The unit presents a flat griddle on one face and a ridged grill on the other, allowing you to flip between searing grill marks and a broad flat surface for pancakes, eggs or sandwiches.
Materials and finish: cast from iron and finished with factory seasoning, this pan contains no PFAS or synthetic nonstick coatings. It arrives pre‑seasoned so you can start cooking right away; continued seasoning with fat or oil improves the surface over time.
How to use: place it across two burners or set it on a grill to convert that space into a flat top. It's oven‑safe and suitable for induction, gas, electric and open‑flame campfire use. The pan’s weight and mass deliver strong heat retention and even cooking. Care involves cleaning with hot water and a brush, drying thoroughly, and reapplying a thin coat of oil to protect the seasoning and prevent rust.
Provenance: produced by Lodge in the United States and built to be a long‑lasting, multiuse kitchen tool for stovetop and outdoor cooking.
Pros
- Dual‑sided design for griddle and grill cooking
- Pre‑seasoned, PFAS‑free cast iron construction
- Compatible with induction, oven, gas and campfire
Cons
- Heavy and somewhat cumbersome to handle
- May require extra seasoning and technique to avoid sticking
- Some units can warp under high heat
VerdictA sturdy, versatile double‑burner cast iron plate that offers two cooking faces: a smooth griddle and a ridged grill. Pre‑seasoned and free of PFAS, it works on gas, electric, induction, oven, grill or over a fire. Great heat retention and longevity make it a solid kitchen or outdoor choice, though some users note occasional warping or a learning curve for seasoning and technique.

High quality and versatile on the BBQ
Heavy duty reversible plate fits well on my barbecue and has a low lip to limit spills. No grease drain holes, which was ideal for my setup. Also works in the oven; not ideal for flat electric coils.

Convenient and useful, but mine warped
Nice for quick family breakfasts and it seasons up well. It’s heavy but manageable. Ours developed a slight warp; I’ve been alternating sides and will keep it for campfire use if it can’t be flattened.

Classic Lodge reliability
Replaced a flaking coated plate and prefer this solid cast iron. Smoother surface than some skillets and stays put on the stove. No synthetic coatings to worry about and it may even contribute trace iron.

Serious upgrade to my cookware
This reversible cast iron pan has been a standout in my kitchen. Heavy, durable and pre‑seasoned, it handles pancakes, steaks and veggies with excellent heat retention. I gave it an extra layer of seasoning myself and now it’s a go‑to for stovetop and campfire cooking.

Two‑year test: still going strong
Heavy, well made and robust over heavy daily use with a large family. Seasoning has improved with repeated pancakes and toast. Slight casting imperfection makes it wobble on a counter, but it fits two burners perfectly.

Exactly what I needed after some practice
I use it nearly every day now. After an initial learning curve and reworking my seasoning routine (I use lard), it stopped sticking. Technique matters with cast iron, but once dialed in it performs consistently.

Flat, well made griddle — minor fit issue
Great flat surface and robust construction. On my stove it rocks corner‑to‑corner because of my burner grates; a folded bit of foil fixed it. Remember, griddles work best for wide, low items — greasy foods belong in a skillet.
