KM-19 6" Coping & Fret Saw — High-Tension Precision Frame
Review
Dual-purpose cutting setup: The KM-19 converts between coping saw and fret saw use by swapping blades and accessories. It accepts standard coping saw blades plus jeweler wire-style blades, so you can switch from woodworking curves to cutting brass or other thin metals with minimal fuss. Some blade holders and blades are supplied with the saw, allowing immediate use out of the box.
Full 360° indexed blade rotation: An indexed adjustment system provides positive 45° click-stops for repeatable blade angles. The clamp and knobs are designed to let the blade rotate smoothly without twisting when loosened, enabling angled entry and sideways sawing inside tight joints or shapes.
High-tension lever-lock mechanism: Instead of a simple twist-frame tensioner, this model uses an independent lever-tension lock that achieves much greater blade tension. The added rigidity reduces blade wander on straight and curved cuts, so edges stay flat and you often need less sanding or rework. Take care not to over-tension delicate blades.
7075 aerospace-grade aluminum frame: The frame is machined from 7075 aluminum with a hollowed, lightweight profile. A mortise-and-tenon interlocking structure increases tensile strength and resists flexing even under sustained high tension, making the saw feel stable during long cutting sessions.
Reversible dual-head handle and ergonomics: The handle can be mounted on either side of the frame so the saw is comfortable for left- and right-handed users. It’s balanced for both push and pull strokes and the handle is removable for narrow-entry jobs where the frame must pass through a small hole or tight area.
Pros
- Stiff 7075 aluminum frame for minimal flex
- Lever-tension system yields very stable blade tension
- Indexed 45° blade rotation for repeatable angles
Cons
- Higher-end build can feel expensive for occasional users
- Easy to over-tighten thin blades if not careful
- Hex-style blade holders need careful alignment
VerdictThe KM-19 is a well-engineered 6" coping/fret saw aimed at serious hobbyists and pro woodworkers who want a rigid, adjustable frame. The aerospace-grade 7075 alloy body and a dedicated lever-tension system deliver much higher blade tension and reduced wander compared with basic twist-frame saws. Indexed 45° stops and a rotatable blade clamp let you set precise cutting angles, while the reversible

Well-made and precise
Perfect for smooth curves and intricate patterns. The saw feels precise with comfortable ergonomics; built from solid materials and it arrives with blades. Tension is easy to set for different tasks and the removable handle helps with tight passages. Highly recommended.

Top quality but pricey
Unboxing shows you immediately this isn’t a basic fret saw—the finish and build are superb. The aluminum frame, 360° blade rotation and rigidity make for very accurate curved cuts. My only gripe is the cost; for occasional users the price may be hard to justify, though the tool clearly feels premium.

Absolutely superb
This is the only coping/fret saw I'll need—solidly built and performs flawlessly. Very satisfied!

Exceptional fit and finish
The machining and build quality are outstanding. I use it mostly with jeweler-style blades to cut brass rod and it swaps blades easily. The rigid frame allows very high tension (watch for overtightening). Indexed 45° stops help set angles, though aligning the hex blade holders with the 45° index can take a moment. Once set, it stays precise and I normally run it inline with the frame.

Makes delicate work a pleasure
A joy to use—premium materials and intuitive adjustments. Took a little practice to install the pinless blades; a short video helped. The high tension and 45° rotation make inside cuts and dovetail work much easier.
