Banneton Bread Proofing Baskets — 9" Round Natural Rattan, 2-Pack
Review
Includes two 9-inch round banneton baskets and two removable linen liners, giving you a pair of ready-to-use proofing bowls for boules or smaller loaves. Each liner slips over the rim with an elastic edge for a secure fit.
Made from natural woven rattan, the baskets allow air circulation and absorb surface moisture so the dough skin stays drier and produces a crisp, artisan-style crust. The rattan weave also encourages the classic spiral impression on the dough’s exterior.
Designed specifically for proofing, these bowls shape and support dough during the final rise. Use them for sourdough, boule-style loaves, and other hand-shaped breads to develop structure and surface texture.
The included linen liners are washable and treated to be low-stick, making it easier to lift out proofed dough without tearing. Dust the liner lightly with flour, place the dough to proof, then cover with the liner before turning the loaf onto your baking surface.
Ideal for bakers at all skill levels, this set helps create consistent, attractive loaves at home. The 9-inch diameter accommodates standard household loaves and provides room for expansion without overcrowding.
Pros
- Breathable natural rattan for crisp crusts
- Comes with washable, elastic-edged linen liners
- Two baskets for simultaneous proofing
Cons
- Rattan requires gentle care to avoid soaking
- Some may prefer different diameters
- Linens need regular washing to stay fresh
VerdictSolid choice for home bakers who want a reliable way to proof boules and artisan loaves. The natural rattan breathes and helps dry the dough surface while the included washable liners reduce sticking and simplify cleanup. Good balance of durability and performance for everyday baking.

Handy for regular bakers
Nice, smooth rattan and a thick linen that cleans easily. These should last a long time, though I docked a star because they cost more than I expected.

Good learning curve — season before use
I bought this to experiment with bannetons and learned a few things before my first proof. I prepped the basket by lightly dampening and dusting with rice flour to help prevent sticking. I proofed my dough in the basket after the first rise to get the spiral pattern. Dough came out cleanly, though I did need to give it more rise time than I had planned.

Incorrect dimensions
Advertised as 9", but the bowl I received measures about 8" across. The cover also arrived with a seam that looked poorly sewn.

Natural rattan, solid feel
Ordered the 2-pack and received two baskets and two liners. Each basket measures about 9" across and just over 3" tall; the weave feels like real rattan and the rim shows metal staples in places. The liner has elastic and can either cover the bowl or act as the interior layer. One basket weighs roughly 5.8 oz and a liner about 0.7 oz. Overall they’re similar to other rattan bannetons I’ve used.

Great for boules
These are perfect for proofing round artisan loaves. The liners fit well with elastic edges and are washable. The rattan is lightweight yet absorbs surface moisture so the dough isn’t overly wet. No instructions in the package, but dusting with flour on the liner before placing sticky dough worked best for me.
