Yang Jiang Preserved Black Beans with Ginger — 2 x 500g Packs
Review
Authentic Yang Jiang preserved black beans prepared using time-honored techniques to deliver a robust, savory profile. These preserved beans are blended with real ginger to give a warm, aromatic lift that complements the beans' deep umami.
Each purchase includes two sealed packages, each weighing 1.1 lb (500 g). The jars are intended for multiple uses in a home kitchen or foodservice setting and provide an extended supply for regular cooking.
Ingredients focus on preserved soy/black beans and added ginger, prepared as a pickled-style condiment. The texture and seasoning make these ready to use straight from the pack, adding immediate depth to recipes without complex prep.
How to use: stir into vegetable or meat stir-fries, fold into steamed rice, stir through congee, combine with noodles, enrich broths and soups, or serve as a savory garnish alongside dishes. Their concentrated flavor means a little goes a long way.
The packaging is designed for storage and repeated use; keep refrigerated after opening according to instructions. This value pack suits cooks who frequently incorporate preserved beans and ginger into their repertoire.

Cons

Full-flavored, recommended by a cookbook author
A cookbook author I follow suggested these and they work very well in classic black bean dishes. The beans deliver strong umami and savory notes while feeling less salty than many ready-made pastes. Each pack is a full 1.1 lb (500 g), so you get a lot for the kitchen. I usually rinse them briefly before cooking to temper the preserving salt.

Tasty but watch the use-by timing
Flavor is excellent, but my shipment had a use-by date only four months ahead. If you don't cook with preserved beans often, two large packs can be hard to finish before quality declines.
